Hard disks have an average life span of about 2–5 years, so I make sure to replace them in time and inform myself about the current offer in time.

Another reason for a new hard disk is usually that the capacity of the existing one is not sufficient for a long time. So I go to my favorite electronics store again. It was closed for weeks because of the Corona pandemic. If there hadn't been a pandemic, I would have been back there long ago.

27.05.2020: Only a few pieces of the LaCie d2 Thunderbolt 3 with six terabyte capacity are on the shelf! Five minutes later, one of them is mine. 
The price: 459,00 EUR. – Not a bargain, as I found out later, but for that this hard disk was not exposed to the stresses of parcel shipping, but as a pallet shipment together with many parcels most likely reached its shelf place without much vibration. It's worth it.
I pay contactless, secure and fast with Apple Pay.
